Fast Lane – quick and tasty

One of the restaurants on the Megastar will be Fast Lane. This restaurant concept has been operating for a year on the cruise ship Silja Serenade, where it has proved to be an excellent experience. The basic idea of the Fast Lane restaurant is familiar from the restaurant industry: food made quickly from quality ingredients. However, it's not correct to call it fast food, said Marja Kokko, the Head Waiter:

Fast food is a wrong term, we call it quick & easy. For example, our burger patties are made from beef sirloin ground in our kitchen. Nothing but pepper, salt and a dash of water is added to the ground beef. In fast food joins, the patties arrive ready-made, and they’re just warmed up for the customer.

This uncomplicated eatery has become very popular, at times so much that it is packed to the rafters.

Our most popular dish is the Angus-beef The meatball bar and hot dogs are also popular. The chef is always here, until 4 AM,

Marja said.

Popular salads

There is also demand for fresher alternatives. The salad bar is plentiful, and with the help of the chef or the wait staff, you can choose a heavenly serving of salad.

Our salad portions are very filling. For many people, they’re enough for a full meal. There are a lot of ingredient options, so everyone can select their favourite ones. For example, we have prawns, chicken, feta, smoked salmon, and different kinds of nuts. You can complement your meal experience with a glass of good wine.

Also works on the Megastar

The Megastar and Silja Serenade are quite different from each other. On Serenade, the customers are on a cruise, and spend two evenings on the ship. On the Megastar, the travel time is only two hours. Marja thinks that this concept works very well on short routes, too.

This has been really popular thanks to its simplicity and good food. Even on a short trip, you’ll have enough time to enjoy a delicious meal, and still do work and/or shopping. I believe that the Fast Lane restaurant will be very popular on the Megastar, too.

You can’t really write an article about a restaurant without testing its food. A burger with a 220 gr steak was a delicious meal. The size of the portion was more than sufficient, I think it would be enough even for those gourmands who are used to “truckie portions”.

Working long hours at the terminal in Tallinn

The Passenger Terminal D, which Tallink uses at the Port of Tallinn, has been in the middle of renovations since last summer. Originally designed for approximately three million annual passengers, the terminal is currently used by double the amount of passengers, so an extension is necessary. Additionally, all forecasts predict that passenger volumes will continue to grow, particularly as the Megastar will start traffic in late January. Read more »

The sea-loving intendant of the Megastar – Üllar Märtin

At the agreed time, the cheerful intendant shakes my hand at the Superstar's information desk. His smile doesn't falter even when considering the upcoming two-month stint of constant extra work. Nor even when there are 19 – 22 m/s winds outside, which means that he has to make decisions regarding shop arrangements, for example. Read more »
